Lower Hawkesbury Estuary Management Plan 2009

The Lower Hawkesbury Estuary Management Plan provides strategic management for the estuary from Wisemans Ferry to Broken Bay, excluding Pittwater and Brisbane Water. Collaboratively developed by Hornsby Shire Council and the former Gosford City Council, the plan includes timeframes, costs, responsibilities, measurables and other information related to each of the strategies.

Hornsby, Central Coast, Pittwater and Hawkesbury Councils and the New South Wales Office of Environment and Heritage are in the process of starting a scoping study to develop a new plan. The plan provides a mechanism for future monitoring and evaluation of the success of its implementation, along with contingencies in the event that specific targets and/or overarching goals and objectives are not met. The implementation of this plan is overseen by the Lower Hawkesbury Estuary Management Committee, with the 2009 plan having been effectively implemented.
