Incorrect and illegal disposal of chemicals not only attracts hefty fines and penalties but can also cause serious environmental harm by contaminating our local waterways and landfill sites.
Please dispose of your hazardous waste responsibly!
Safely drop off unused, out-of-date or unwanted household chemicals laying around your home, garage or shed for free at Council’s Chemical CleanOut events in August.
Items that can be dropped off include paint tins, pesticides, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, fluorescent globes and tubes, as well as any unknown or unidentified chemicals which are accepted for identification and correct disposal.
Only household quantities will be accepted. This includes up to 100L of paint in containers of 20L or less. For all other items, up to 20L or 20kg will be accepted.
Remember to transport material safely by keeping chemicals in the original container and remaining in their vehicles when dropping off hazardous waste.
This initiative is run twice a year providing Central Coast residents with a safe and free disposal option for chemical waste.
The Household Chemical CleanOut program is a NSW Government Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy, brought to you by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Paintback and Central Coast Council.
For the full list of chemicals that can be dropped off at the Chemical CleanOut events and information on storing and transporting unwanted chemicals safely, go to the NSW Household Chemical CleanOut web page.
