The New South Wales Government established the Wamberal Seawall Advisory Taskforce on the 31 July 2020 to provide Council with support to implement a sustainable long-term solution to the coastal erosion issues at Wamberal Beach.
Dr Phil Watson has been appointed as the Chair of the Taskforce with Council’s CEO Gary Murphy, Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch MP, Council’s appointed Wamberal Beach Project Manager, and representatives from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. The State Government led Taskforce has now met on a number of occasions.
At the 28 September 2020 Ordinary meeting Council resolved that the CEO seek to make available the Wamberal Seawall Advisory Taskforce minutes on Council’s website by the end of October. Council consulted with the relevant parties prior to the release of the Advisory Taskforce minutes and Terms of Reference.
Please note that while Council welcomes the establishment of the Advisory Taskforce, the resolutions of the Taskforce may not necessarily align with the position of Council.
Please also note that while Council can consult and engage on the Wamberal work being undertaken by Council, we cannot make any comment about the work of the Advisory Taskforce. Any media or community enquires relating to the Advisory Taskforce should be directed to the Advisory Taskforce Chair Dr Phil Watson from the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.
