The State Government introduced regional planning panels in 2009 to strengthen decision-making for regionally significant development applications and other planning matters. Each panel is an independent body that is not subject to the direction of the Minister for Planning.
Regional Planning Panels were established by the NSW State Government on 1 July 2009. The Regional Panels determine a range of developments, including all developments with a value of more than $30 million, that are not classified as being of State significance.
Central Coast Council has two representatives and two alternative representatives on the Hunter and Central Coast Regional Planning Panel (HCCRPP).
