Gosford West Ward
Councillor Jane Smith has been a dedicated resident of the Central Coast for over 28 years. Initially starting her career in IT, Jane is now a part-time teacher, blending her passion for education and the environment with her commitment to community service. With 20 years involvement in local organisations and as former mayor of Central Coast Council, she has served as CEO of the Community Environment Network and is a founding board member of the Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre.
Additionally, Jane has contributed to various boards and committees, including those of Gosford Council.
As a Councillor, Jane advocates for an open and transparent local government. She is focused on developing strategies to attract sustainable industries that create jobs while protecting vital resources such as environmental lands (including COSS), drinking water catchments and agricultural lands. Concerned about poor planning practices leading to congestion and diminished quality of life, Jane emphasises the need for community involvement in planning and infrastructure that meets the demands of population growth. With qualifications in mathematics, marine science, education, and environmental planning, Jane is committed to ensuring a vibrant future for the Central Coast.
