Two years on from its major community consultation project Let’s Talk Woy Woy, Central Coast Council has completed a range of major works, upgrades and improvements throughout the Woy Woy town centre, with more projects currently underway.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Farmer said the community has played an integral role in shaping many exciting projects, plans and strategies to benefit and enhance Woy Woy that are now coming to life.

“Community feedback has and will continue to play a vital role in helping shape the future of not just Woy Woy, but the entire Central Coast.  This is why we are again inviting the community to be a part of our 2022 Let’s Talk Woy Woy campaign.

“Throughout the 2019 Let’s Talk program we received over 422 formal submissions from 294 stakeholders, with over 100 community members attending one of our two drop-in information sessions.

“This valuable feedback informed Council on a range of highly-anticipated projects including the development of the new state of the art Woy Woy Town Centre Wharf, road and infrastructure improvements, place activation, the formation of a draft Woy Woy Waterfront Masterplan and much more,” Mr Farmer said.

Council Administrator Rik Hart said Council is committed to delivering services and infrastructure that secure and support Woy Woy’s identity as an important economic centre for the Central Coast, which reflect the needs of the community both now and into the future.

“As one of the Central Coast’s principal town centres, Woy Woy is a much-loved hub for our region and we are excited to share an update on how Council has been working with the community to increase the vibrancy, safety and accessibility of this beautiful location,” Mr Hart said.

The 2022 Let’s Talk program provides the community with opportunities to discover the exciting projects Council has completed or has planned for Woy Woy.  It is also an opportunity for them to have their say on the draft Woy Woy Waterfront Masterplan project and find out about other projects and share their ideas and aspirations for the area.

The Masterplan includes consultation on the future development of the Pelican Park site. The site is currently home to the Pelican Park Playspace.  Council understands this playspace is highly valued by the community and as part of the master planning process, Council is seeking to better understand these values so they can be reflected in the long-term plan for Woy Woy Waterfront.

The draft Woy Woy Waterfront Masterplan, which is open for consultation from 2 June – 3 July, provides an overall vision for the open space along the waterfront and will guide future growth and development.
