Wisemans Ferry Rd closures

Road rehabilitation works have commenced on Wisemans Ferry Road which is expected to impact residents and motorists for approximately six weeks.

Ongoing severe weather events in February, March and July of this year have impacted several sites along Wisemans Ferry Road, causing dangerous road conditions such as embankment failures, minor landslips and significant pavement damage. Temporary road signage and partial road closures were put in place as an interim measure to ensure the safety of motorists and residents and to enable the continued use of our road network.

Council has commenced immediate remediation works to restore the road pavement and related road infrastructure to ensure motorists can safely travel through the area. There will be ongoing remediation works being undertaken between Spencer and Wisemans Ferry, which will impact communities and residents.

Council is carrying out these works as a priority with an anticipated timeframe of 4-6 weeks, subject to favourable weather and any other priorities that may arise in the area.

Residents should take extra care and drive to the conditions. Motorists should also expect large heavy plant on the road and allow additional time for delays. There will be Visual Messaging Boards (VMS) and traffic controllers out on site however single lane road closures are expected.

Council has currently received $1.6m from the NSW Disaster Assistance Arrangements to conduct Immediate Restoration Works on Wiseman Ferry Road, and several other locations across the coast.
