Central Coast Council is helping undergraduates build their careers and work alongside professionals in a range of fields, from Engineering to Social Sciences.

Successful students will be offered one-year paid employment with Council, from February 2020 to February 2021, while continuing their studies.

Council’s People and Culture Executive Manager, Krystie Bryant said the program equips students with the skills required in a competitive market.

“Our Undergraduate program is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain experience and on the job mentoring while they study,” Ms Bryant said.

“Students are exposed to a wide range of projects and opportunities that exist within Council and our development framework equips them with the professional skills required in today’s job market.

“The program helps students learn first-hand about what’s involved in the day-to-day tasks in their chosen profession and assists with building their early career.

“Many of our undergraduates have been successful in gaining permanent employment upon completing their degrees.”

Mayor Jane Smith said Council’s Program aims to support the employment and career opportunities for young people on the Coast.

“As one of the largest employers on the Coast, we are able to offer a range of opportunities for our undergraduates to get experience in their chosen career,” Mayor Smith said.

“Young people are the future of the Coast and we want to ensure they have every opportunity to be able to live, work and study here on the Coast.”

Council’s Undergraduate Program is available to university students in their second to last, and final years and who can work part time while they study.

Applications for Councils 2020 Undergraduate Program open on Monday 9 September and close Sunday 13 October.
