Business leaders and community members have the opportunity to see the future next week when a group of Central Coast students go head-to-head in a “Shark Tank” style event to win support for their ground-breaking business ideas.

Digital apps, mental health support, modest exercise outfits and a physical gaming space are just a few of the concepts that will battle it out at a pitch night styled on the popular entrepreneurial television program.

They’ll be competing for an opportunity to receive a year’s free mentoring from some of the best business minds on the Central Coast. At least eight young people will receive mentoring from business leaders who have joined the program.

Central Coast Council launched the Ignite Business LaunchPad program to help put young entrepreneurs on the path to achieving their dreams.

Council Director Connected Communities, Julie Vaughan urged community members to go along to support innovative young people and to also be inspired by their concepts.

“We particularly encourage business owners to go along, see how it works and think about how they could get involved in working with young people in future entrepreneurship programs,” Ms Vaughan said.

Mayor Jane Smith said small business is the backbone of the Central Coast economy and Council is keen to support new opportunities that will create local job opportunities for young people on the Coast. .

“Our young people have some great business ideas and this great program provides the mentoring and support needed for them to become a reality,” Mayor Smith said.

“I encourage our local business leaders to get involved and help shape the next generation of business owners on the Central Coast.”

Don’t miss out on hearing the latest great ideas at the pitch night on 7pm on Wednesday 27 March. This event will be held at The Hub Erina Youth Entertainment Venue and entry is free of charge.
