Staying Safe on our Roads this Easter
Published On
05/04/2017The Easter long weekend is a popular time of the year for getting together with family and friends or taking a road trip. No matter how you spend your Easter break, we want you and your family to stay safe these holidays.
Whether you're staying on the Coast or travelling, here are some simple hints and tips for you to remember to keep you and your family safe:
- Double Demerits are in force from Thursday 13 April - Monday 17 April inclusive. This applies to offences such as speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, riding without a helmet, illegal mobile phone use and not using a child restraint
- Stick to the speed limit
- If you're travelling a long distance, stop to revive at least every two hours and recognise the signs of being tired
- Tell someone where you're travelling to and let them know when you arrive
- Don't use your mobile phone illegally while driving
- Make sure your child is secure in their child restraint (call us today for a voucher to get yours checked for FREE)
- Always hold your child's hand when crossing the road and walking through car parks
- As a motorist, take extra caution when driving near children's play spaces
- Organise your Plan B to get home safely, especially when alcohol is involved – leave your vehicle at home, organise a designated driver, stay at a friend's house or use public transport, visit Transport Links website.
Have a happy and safe Easter!
