From the North to the South, Central Coast Council’s popular School Holiday Program is back with new activities for all ages, including the older kids!

Out now, the September/October program lists a combination of free and paid events, live entertainment, art and sporting activities. It also includes a series of professional development workshops, a special ‘Employ Me’ information day offering top tips on getting into the workforce, and a Pool Lifeguard Course specifically for our Coast’s youth.

Council Director, Connected Communities, Julie Vaughan said the first full program of events and activities presented for the July school holidays was a huge success with positive feedback received from the community.

“Council runs and supports many events for our community and for the first time last school holidays we worked to present all our activities in one easy to find, easy to read and easy to book program for the community.” Ms Vaughan said.

“The program was hugely successful with high engagement by the community and high attendance at most events. There was also a high interest in our program by people from outside our region, which shows that Tourism remains a significant industry on the Central Coast and people are looking to Council for ‘What’s On’ information.

“We are delighted to continue making it easy for our community and visitors to plan ahead. Check out our new September/October School Holiday Program and get involved today.”

Council’s School Holiday Program runs from 28 September until 14 October. Key events include:

  • Activities, intensive ‘learn to swim’ classes and pool entertainment at Council’s Leisure Centres
  • Council’s first-ever ‘Chalk the Walk’, a visit from ABC’s Hoot and Hootabelle, plus science and magic shows at The Entrance
  • Green Living Workshops and hands-on Ecological Discovery Talks with guides from Ocean and Coastal Care Initiatives
  • Drawing and painting classes plus Japanese culture activities at Gosford Regional Gallery
  • Arts, crafts and learning fun across Central Coast Library Service
  • YOUTHfest Umina, ‘Employ Me’ information day plus technology, professional skills development, sports and creative workshops for the Coast’s youth

The community is also invited to start their school holidays early with the not-to-be-missed ‘SportsFest’ on 22-23 September – a celebration of all things related to sports and active recreation.
