30/12/2019Central Coast Council Director Connected Communities, Julie Vaughan said the safety of the Central Coast community and visitors to the region is Council’s number one priority.
“We know that many members of our community and visitors look forward to celebratory fireworks at our New Year’s Eve events. Unfortunately, conditions are not suitable for any of our planned fireworks displays as part of the event programs at Gosford Waterfront and The Entrance, however both locations will still run a night full of entertainment, activities, delicious food and great music,” Ms Vaughan said.
“Council has consulted closely with the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) in the lead up to tonight’s New Year’s Eve celebration events at The Entrance and Gosford Waterfront for advice on proceeding with the firework display as part of the event program.
On review of this advice, today’s current conditions (including the severe fire danger rating), plus other considerations such as the assessment of additional resources and requirements required to safely run the fireworks, a decision has been made to run tonight’s New Year’s Eve events without the inclusion of the firework display.
“The Rural Fire Service does an incredible job for our community and in appreciation and further to the previous Mayoral commitment for a donation to the CWA , Council will be donating $10,000 to the NSW RFS,” Ms Vaughan said.
Tonight at The Entrance, event attendees will be able to celebrate the last sunset over the water with amusement rides, delicious food and great music from headliners The Choirboys and more.
On the Gosford Waterfront, people will be able to enjoy roving entertainers and amazing live music from The Rebecca Johnson Band, Sunset Vibes and Jellyfish.
Both events are alcohol free and safe for the whole family so come down and join in the fun!
