07/06/2017Berkeley Vale will be a hub of activity when we finish upgrading the recreational facilities to meet the growing needs of the area.
The run-down play space at Berkeley Park, off Bundilla Parade (near the traffic lights), has been transformed into a natural play space.
The new look play space is now open, and visitors to the park will enjoy trying out new equipment with more natural elements, creating a space for children to play, climb and use their imaginations.
Across the other side of the road, the popular skate park next to Berkeley Vale Oval is now even bigger and better.
Local riders will notice it’s been expanded with extra elements such as ramps. A shade structure is also being added, and is expected to be installed by the middle of June. The improvements will give riders a more diverse experience at the park.
The upgrade was partly funded by the NSW Department of Family and Community Services, through the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund.
An official opening for the new look skate park will be held on Tuesday 11 July 2017 at 11.30am and will include the mobile youth bus, a sausage sizzle, and more.
The biggest change of all to the recreational facilities in Berkeley Vale will be the new district-size play space being installed at Kurraba Oval.
A district play space is bigger than the average local park and caters for children of all ages and abilities. This one will complement the popular area surrounded by a school, childcare centres and sports oval.
The new play space is expected to be open in July and will see junior and senior climbing units, swings - including a combined toddler and adult one, see-saw, spinning toys and a large shelter and seating - as well as a sports wall that can cater for basketball and soccer.
