Mayor Lisa Matthews said Central Coast Council last night adopted Council’s submission in response to the Minister for Local Government’s Notice of Intention to Issue a Suspension Order.

Mayor Lisa Matthews said this submission and the actions being taken by Council provide a sound basis for the Minister to thoroughly consider.

“The Minister must give serious consideration to this submission in deciding whether to suspend Central Coast Council, including a careful consideration of Council’s current actions and plans,” said Mayor Matthews.

“The continued operation of the democratically elected representative body is an important way to ensure our community is represented and has a say in the process moving forward.

“I invite the Minister to meet and receive a presentation of our 100 Day Recovery Action Plan and actions we are taking before making a decision.”

The Council also formally tabled in the Ordinary Meeting yesterday the notice dated 21 October from the Minister for Local Government issuing a notice of intention to issue a suspension order.
