20/10/2020Mayor Lisa Matthews said Central Coast Council has formally acknowledged the response from Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock, to Council’s financial situation, at an Extraordinary Meeting held today.
Mayor Lisa Matthews said Council would be able to pay staff this week, through the State Government’s early provision of the Financial Assistance Grant instalments.
“I remain disappointed by the other actions taken by the Minister today,” said Mayor Matthews.
“Despite repeated requests for meetings to discuss Council’s financial situation, I have had no response from the Minister.
“Our 100 Day Recovery Action Plan has the unanimous endorsement of Council and has been shared with the Office of Local Government. I can assure the Minister that we are addressing our financial issues.”
The Council resolved in the Extraordinary Meeting today, that the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and interested Councillors will now meet with the Acting Chief Executive Officer and independent legal representation to begin preparing a response to the Minister, in relation to the Minister’s notice of intention to issue a suspension order.
