02/07/2018Central Coast Council’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gary Murphy officially started in his new role today, taking over the reins from Brian Glendenning.
Mr Murphy said he is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of leading one of the largest councils in the state.
“I believe in collaboration. I enjoy seeing communities grow and work together to develop their dreams and aspirations,” Mr Murphy said.
“Our community is expecting strong and responsible leadership and excellence in service delivery. We have the plans in place, the passionate staff and an elected Council who will deliver.
Mayor Jane Smith paid tribute to outgoing Acting CEO Brian Glendenning and said Mr Murphy had the right skills, experience and passion to continue to lead the Central Coast forward.
“Gary’s passion for community, people and collaboration made him the real stand-out candidate for this position and I am looking forward to working with him to deliver for our community,” Mayor Smith said.
“We have been fortunate in the leadership of our Acting Chief Executive Officer, Brian Glendenning. Brian stepped up to the role and has helped guide the Councillors and staff over the last five months, including delivery of the first Community Strategic Plan for the Central Coast.”
Mr Murphy comes with extensive local government and private sector experience both in Australia and overseas. He was most recently the General Manager of Lismore City Council.
Brian Glendenning will remain on the Executive Leadership Team at Council as Executive Manager Governance and General Counsel.
