The newly refurbished amenities at Kalakau Avenue in Forresters Beach officially opened today ahead of the peak summer season.

The new structure includes two unisex accessible toilets, a unisex ambulant toilet, one male and one female toilet, as well as an outdoor beach shower.

Council’s Mayor Lisa Matthews said the upgrade had been made possible in partnership with the State Government.

“The State Government provided the funding and Council the know-how to make this upgrade possible.” Mayor Matthews said.

“Great amenities make our beaches more attractive for visitors and provide extensive benefit to the wider community.

The previous public toilet block was demolished in late July, and a new more accessible building has been constructed at a cost of $203,500.

Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the NSW Government was proud to fully fund the amenities reconstruction.

“Our strong NSW budget position means we were able to provide the full funding to make this project happen,” Mr Crouch said.

“For a number of years, local residents have raised this project with me as a matter of priority. The upgraded amenities will benefit everyone who visits Forresters Beach for swimming, surfing, snorkelling and spearfishing.

“There is still more to do for the Forresters Beach community and the NSW Liberal Government has provided $150,000 to improve Archibold Park at Crystal Street. I look forward to Council getting on with the job and delivering this upgrade.”
