Minor flood warning for Tuggerah Lake
Published On
22/02/2022- The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has activated a minor flood warning for Tuggerah Lakes with an expected 1m peak. This level will generally have minor impacts on foreshore reserves.
- However, given BOM’s rainfall forecasts over the coming 3-4 days indicate 50mm of rainfall, this level of rainfall is not enough to exacerbate flooding in the Tuggerah Lakes estuary.
- The Entrance Channel remains open with Council staff monitoring closely. Based on current conditions, berm intervention would occur when a 1.3m (moderate) flood is predicted – this is not the case. There is no expectation of property damage from the current rainfall event as a result of rising levels of Tuggerah Lake.
- Council will continue to provide updates to the community as required.
- Council urges the community to take care on the roads, don’t drive through flooded waters and please exercise extra caution due to some localised flash flooding.
- For information about road closures search ‘road closures’ at Council's website: centralcoast.nsw.gov.au
- For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW State Emergency Service on 132 500. In life threatening situations call triple zero (000) immediately.
