20/05/2016One of the Central Coast’s premier entertainment venues, Laycock Street Community Theatre, is proudly hosting the Melbourne Ballet Company (MBC)’s esteemed production of Archè for a one night only event on Thursday 26 May at 7.30pm.
Archè is a Greek word which indicates the beginning; the force that explains birth and death.
Premiering in Melbourne in 2015, Archè takes inspiration from the age-old classic Swan Lake, with the performance exploring and embracing much of the original story and some of the classical repertoire. It also takes inspiration from the Greek Myth Leda and the Swan.
Council’s Director Community Growth, Judy Jaeger said the Central Coast is privileged to be a part of this prestigious national tour.
“Founded in 2007, the Melbourne Ballet Company has grown to become one of Australia's most loved dance companies and is renowned for its team of experienced classical dancers who consistently deliver truly remarkable performances.
“They have developed their skills at some of the most renowned companies and schools in the world, including the Australian Ballet, the Paris Opera Ballet, Australian Ballet School and the Royal Ballet.
“Having established their own style of innovative and exciting ballet, their performances have become a regular and popular part of our annual season at Laycock Street Community Theatre,” Ms. Jaeger said.
Archè has been described as "essential and compelling viewing" by The Herald Sun and audiences will become immersed in a sublime performance featuring an alternative selection of the original Tchaikovksy score.
This one night only performance is definitely one not to be missed. For bookings contact the Box Office on 43 233 233 or go to www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/theatres
