16/08/2020Our youth are our future, the ‘Central Coast Youth Strategy’ highlights the importance Council places on empowering the youth of today. The Strategy strives to empower our youth in developing their aspirations, skills and talents through a range of innovative engagement programs.
The Strategy is a first for our region and following consultation with over 1,600 young people and 67 youth services across the Coast, it provides strategic direction for the delivery of contemporary youth services and programs.
Twelve months into implementation, we have successfully delivered several actions from the Strategy that support meaningful outcomes for young people who work, live and play on the Central Coast.
Above all, our young people have told us that their own and their friend’s mental health is one of their top priorities.
With the Youth Action Team (Y4Y) and the expertise of one of Australia’s most respected mental health organisations – the Black Dog Institute, we’ve held a series of online workshops and video sessions to help young people identify when they or a friend are at risk of experiencing poor mental health and provide practical tools to cope and build resilience.
For our youth - there are still opportunities to get involved!
