Mayor's Column - Mental Health Month

Published On

October is Mental Health Month - a time that gives us the opportunity to break down stereotypes and raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing, including thinking about our own mental health and wellbeing and encouraging help seeking behaviours when needed.

This year’s theme ‘Tune In’ means being present, being aware of what’s happening within you and the world around you. Tune In to your senses and what you can feel. Tune In to your communities, what you can be a part of or where you can help others feel connected. Tune In to stigma, acknowledging how attitudes around mental health can impact people’s ability to live the lives they want. Through ‘Tuning In’ we can build a better sense of self-awareness that in turn helps us make effective choices.
