Love Lanes festival returns to Wyong with love

The popular Love Lanes Festival in Wyong is back for its fifth year on Friday 8 April, presented by Central Coast Council and Club Wyong, Mounties Group.

Love Lanes was originally planned to take place in February, just two days before Valentine’s Day. However, due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases and restrictions enforced including capacity limits and the ban of singing and dancing at outdoor events, Council has had to postpone this year’s event. While this has been a difficult and disappointing decision, the health and safety of the community is paramount.

Council looks forward to delivering the event in April. This year’s festival features guided tours along the Wyong Heritage Walk, as well as live music and entertainment across four stages, roving entertainment, food and market stalls, a kids’ zone, circus performances, art installations plus more.

Central Coast Council Administrator Rik Hart said that Love Lanes is a chance to discover Wyong’s hidden gems and immerse the whole family in the buzz of this unique outdoor festival.

“The festival will transform Wyong’s heritage laneways and town park into an exciting hub of art, culture and culinary experiences,” Mr Hart said.

The 2019 Love Lanes event attracted approximately 15,000 festival goers and injected over $1.1 million into the local economy.

“After cancellations and disruptions due to the pandemic and poor weather the past two years, we hope that the community can come together at the event in April and enjoy the best of what Wyong has to offer.”

“Love Lanes is a great way for us to show our support for our community and for Wyong, whilst also prioritising health and safety,” Mr Hart said.

Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask and check-in using the QR codes provided. Hand sanitiser will be provided, and regular cleaning will take place throughout the event site.

The festivities kick off at 4pm and run until 9pm. Registrations are essential for guided walking tours and can be made on event day at the Wyong Family History Group stall located in Lee Academy Park.

To help make this festival a success and safe for motorists and visitors alike, road closures will be in place on the event day on 8 April at:

  • Alison Road (between Pacific Highway and Margaret St) 6am-11pm
  • Bakers Lane (between Pacific Highway and Rankens Court) 6am-11pm
  • Rankens Court 6am-11pm
  • Peters Lane 6am-11pm
  • Hely Street (between Plaza Lane and Alison Road) 6am-11pm
