‘Lost Bird Found’ handcrafted bird workshops

The Lost Bird Found project aims to start conversations and raise awareness around mental health. On August 27 and 28, Central Coast Council is running workshops for the community to make their own ‘lost’ bird.

Once finished, the handcrafted birds will be tagged with a mental health information card and placed around the Coast for the community to ‘find’ during Mental Health Awareness Month in October.

Mayor Jane Smith said that these initiatives are important to help raise awareness and improve the mental health and wellness of the community.

“The project originated in North Sydney and has proved successful there in helping to start conversations and reduce the stigma around mental health issues, while highlighting the local services available,” Mayor Smith said.

“We are looking forward to a similar success story here.

“This project is a great example of Councils working with communities to help solve social and health issues that impact wellbeing and community connections.

The community are invited to come along to the free workshops which are designed for people of all crafting abilities.  All materials will be provided.
