17/12/2024Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said the exciting summer program showcases Council’s facilities and community services and offers fun and educational activities for kids of all ages.
“There’s a great range of activities in our program to provide fun and excitement for kids across the Coast. From animal encounters to arts, sports to water-based activities or environmental programs, we have something for everyone,” Mayor McKinna said.
Here are some highlights from this year’s summer school holiday program:
Environmental Program
If you’re seeking some outdoor fun for the kids, our environmental educational program has everything you need. Learn about bushcraft and bush survival, composting and worm farming, turtles, birds, bugs, rockpool critters, art, bush tucker and lots more!
Leisure Centres and Pools
It’s the perfect time to be in the water! Why not let the kids swim and splash their energy away these school holidays? Our pools offer a range of activities to keep your child learning and engaged, including fun inflatable sessions, swim clinics (including school carnival race preparation clinics), learn-to-swim classes, and more.
There’s also several ‘Swim and Sport’ day programs that offer a mix of indoor sports, teamwork activities, life skills, swimming, Splash Park fun, pool inflatables, and more.
Youth Program
Dancing, podcasting, skating – there’s no shortage of fun options at the youth services activity day in Terrigal on Wednesday, 22 January 2025. Join various youth services for a fun-filled day with skate and scooter workshops, street art, hip-hop workshops, podcasting, videography, lawn games and a free BBQ and more.
Libraries
Our libraries always offer a great variety of events and this summer is no different. Children can join a writing workshop or get crafty creating back-to-school pencil cases, creative rock paintings or unique cubist portraits.
There’s also a bug-filled visit, animating in Procreate workshops and even an option to adopt a dinosaur! Don’t miss out on all that’s available, but book fast as these events sell out quickly!
Gosford Regional Gallery
Discover arts and culture with a diverse program designed to inspire young artists, featuring nearly 40 arts and craft workshops for kids aged 6 and up. From weaving and painting to creating Japanese Zen Terrariums, these sessions are guaranteed to inspire or enhance a creative streak!
Laycock Street Community Theatre
Escape the heat and enjoy a summer holiday performance at Laycock Street Community Theatre where two family friendly productions are hitting the local stage.
First up is “Popstars”, a musical blast from the past featuring 90s hits and embarrassing fashion. Then, don’t miss the world premiere of “The Grumpy Princess”, starring local performers and a heart-warming and hilarious story for audiences ages 2 to 102! These shows are sure to entertain everyone.
