The Jenny Dixon Beach stair repair is now complete. The extensive works have restored access to the beach for locals and visitors to enjoy. 

This is the second of four projects to be completed following $2.44 million in funding received from the Australian and NSW Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements as part of the 2021 Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program, with additional contributions from Central Coast Council to improve access for Soldiers Beach and Jenny Dixon Beach. 

Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Murray Watt said the completion of the Jenny Dixon Beach stair repair marked an important milestone in the Central Coast’s recovery.

“This project aims to improve access to much-loved beaches following the devastating 2021 disaster season,” Minister Watt said.

“It’s really great to see that with support from all levels of government, work has been able to be delivered in a way that minimises disruption, so locals and visitors can continue to enjoy the Central Coast’s natural waterways in the future.” 

Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty said community assets bring people together and help create a sense of wellbeing and cohesion in our communities. 

“The NSW Government is backing projects that repair and restore shared infrastructure so communities can continue to enjoy good access to public spaces, like Jenny Dixon Beach,” Ms Moriarty said. 

“Not only is the Australian and NSW Government’s 2021 Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program building back community assets, but it’s futureproofing them as well so locals and visitors can enjoy them for years to come.”

Minister for the Central Coast and the Member for Wyong David Harris said the completion of repair work to Jenny Dixon Beach is great news for locals and visitors alike who can now get back to enjoying this popular stretch of sand just north of the iconic Norah Head Lighthouse.

“This is another great example of Federal and NSW Governments coming together to ensure public amenity to the Central Coast’s stunning coastline is rebuilt and repaired to be enjoyed for generations to come,” Mr Harris said.

Council Acting Director Environment and Planning, Luke Sulkowski said Council is excited to have completed this stage of works for the community, restoring access to Jenny Dixon Beach and continuing to focus on the final stages of restoring access to Soldiers Beach. 

“The new stairs will look slightly different to what was there previously, with a new alignment at the bottom flight of the stairs helping to reduce exposure to ocean impacts as well as making it easier for users to descend the stairs and onto the beach,” Mr Sulkowski said. 

“I am also pleased to advise the Soldiers Beach stair and vehicle access ramp works which commenced in April are progressing well and are on track for completion by the end of 2024 ahead of the 2024-25 beach season.”

Council Administrator, Rik Hart said Council is committed to building a strong and vibrant community.

“We’re pleased to see Jenny Dixon Beach access now restored for the community to enjoy and look forward to restoring access at the remaining locations at Soldiers Beach.”
