15/02/2017Filling up your water bottle while you’re out and about on the coast is about to get a whole lot easier, with the installation of nine new water refill stations.
Central Coast Council is currently installing the water filter stations at high traffic areas including:
- Heazlett Park, Avoca
- Rumbalara Reserve, Springfield
- MacKillop Oval, South Kincumber
- Hylton Moore Oval, East Gosford
- Greenvale Playground, Green Point
- The Skillion, Terrigal
- Trafalgar Playground, Woy Woy
- Hardy’s Bay Foreshore
- Narara Valley Precinct Park.
The project started in early November and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2017.
The new fixtures will complement the 17 stations already established throughout the region at Woy Woy, Umina, Avoca Beach, Terrigal Beach, Ocean Beach, Kincumber, Copacabana, Ettalong Beach and Gosford’s Kibble Park.
Each unit has multiple taps for drinking out of, with refill dispensers on each side. Five of the stations (Hylton Moore, Heazlett Park, Greenvale Playground, Hardy’s Bay and The Skillion) will also keep pooches hydrated with attached dog water bowls.
Council Administrator, Mr Ian Reynolds, said the organisation was proud to provide such a convenient resource to the community.
“Council is ensuring visitors and residents have unlimited access to free filtered water when they visit popular areas around the Central Coast,” said Mr Reynolds.
“I’m proud that we can offer this service to the community and expand on the existing water stations that were installed in 2014 – keeping people hydrated when they’re out and about.
“Our water refill stations will continue to help residents and visitors avoid outlaying millions of dollars on purchasing bottled water, they will also help reduce the amount of unnecessary landfill in our region.”
Water refill stations are also located at Toowoon Bay Beach, Picnic Point and Bato Yard Skate Park.
