05/07/2016In a huge coup for the Central Coast sporting scene, Niagara Park Stadium has been selected as the host venue for the 2016 Hockey NSW U13 and U15 Boys and Girls State Indoor Championships.
The first of these major events will be held over two four-day periods in October (14-17) and November (4-7) this year.
Council’s Team Leader at Niagara Park Stadium, Scott Attwood said the Championships offer a prime opportunity to showcase our region and will provide a significant boost to our local economy.
“The Championships attract over 120 teams from across NSW, who will stay, eat and shop in the region during the four day events,” said Mr. Attwood.
“We are also in negotiations to host the Championships again in 2017 and 2018, which would represent even more investment in our local economy, over the three year period.”
Niagara Park Stadium is fast emerging as one of our region’s most sought after sporting and cultural community facilities.
“The stadium’s high class facilities, accessible location and versatility make it a popular choice for a wide range of events and activities,” said Mr. Attwood.
“There aren’t many venues across the Central Coast that can offer the space and accommodate the crowds that Niagara Park Stadium is designed for. With a floor space of approximately 40 by 90 metres, which can be split into two separate areas, and a grandstand that can easily hold up to 700 people, the stadium is a popular choice for many high calibre events.
“The Stadium also has the advantage of being located next to Niagara Park train station, with public buses right outside the door, as well as boasting plenty of parking. This level of accessibility and convenience lends itself well to a range of community events including; conferences, expos, group functions, trivia nights, high school formals and school reward days.
“No doubt all of these factors were considered by Hockey NSW, when selecting Niagara Park Stadium as its venue of choice for this major sporting event.”
