Central Coast Council is offering a variety of family friendly activities right across the region these holidays, the highlight of which will be a purpose-built outdoor ice rink in Gosford’s Kibble Park from 8-16 July.

Suitable for the young and young at heart, the 19m x 12m rink will be open from 10am to 8pm daily, with 45 minute skating sessions starting every hour. For those a little less steady on their skates, ‘push penguins’ are available for hire.

The winter wonderland experience will be enhanced by street performances including fire twirling, park decorations, Gosford Library late night opening and special events.

Group Leader for Customer and Community Relationships, Judy Jaeger said Council was thrilled to be bringing Gosford’s first outdoor ice rink to the region for the school holidays.

“The ice rink is about celebrating and enjoying what is on offer in the very heart of Gosford. It adds another dimension to our city, providing unique entertainment for residents as well as visitors during the busy school holiday period.

“This is going to be great fun and fabulous entertainment for the whole family, day and night. Of course it also provides the opportunity to combine ice skating with a variety of other shopping, entertainment and dining experiences available in Gosford’s CBD.

“Community-focussed initiatives like this really enhance the use of our open spaces, as well as drawing our community together and driving the revitalisation of our city,” said Ms Jaeger.

The ice rink is also the perfect opportunity for birthdays, group events and special celebrations. Residents and visitors will be able to show off their skating skills and enjoy a program of themed activities and events throughout the week which include:

  • Friday 8 July, 5pm - 7pm: Ice Rink Launch Party with Star 104.5 - giveaways, games, and street performances including fire twirling, drumming from the Rhythm Hut and much more.
  • Saturday 9 July: 'Frozen' Theme Day 11am - 2pm.
  • Sunday 10 July, 11am - 2pm: 'Family Fun Day', with games in the park.

Gosford Library late night opening and special events. See www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/libraries for details of all winter wonderland workshops, story times and children’s activities.

Tickets, including skate hire, are $10 per person, available either online or at the gate. Sessions are limited to a maximum of 100 people. The advice is to get your skates on and book early so as not to miss out.

Advance tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at www.gosford.starsonice.com.au.

Star 104.5FM is the ice rink’s exclusive commercial radio partner.
