Australia’s most internationally acclaimed glass artist – JamFactory ICON Jessica Loughlin: of light – is to exhibit at Gosford Regional Gallery as part of four solo exhibitions this season by national artists brought together by their fascination with light and space. 

On display from 1 April will be JamFactory ICON Jessica Loughlin: of Light, Ali Tahayori: The Sky is the Same, Tanya Alexandra Richards: Nomadic Movement and from 8 April Michèle Heibel: Making Time. 

Jessica Loughlin will tour 13 venues nationally with support from the Australia Council’s Contemporary Touring Initiative.

A studio glass artist for over twenty-five years, Loughlin creates ethereal kilnformed glass artworks and has dedicated her practice to the pursuit of capturing the transient qualities of light and the quiet sense of contemplation it provokes in the viewer.
Council Unit Manager Community and Culture, Glenn Cannard said locals and visitors to the Coast are welcome to attend a variety of events supporting these exhibitions including JamFactory ICON Jessica Loughlin: of light opening night at 6pm on 14 April 2023 and public program at 11am on 15 April.

“During the public program glass artist Jessica Loughlin will go on a reflective journey amongst her ethereal artworks immersed with responding compositions by cellist Hilary Kleinig,” Mr Cannard said.

“This meditative encounter leads participants through a series of reflective states as they take in the sights and sounds of a visual meditative sound experience encouraging participants to intimately explore the stillness of everything illuminated and glowing, and Loughlin’s fascination with the beauty of emptiness.”

Council Administrator Rik Hart said Gosford Regional Gallery provides exhibitions to a wide audience for free access to arts and culture with the aim to celebrate creativity, engage community and promote culture. 

“The Gosford Regional Gallery is the heart of visual arts on the Central Coast, and the 2023 exhibition program presents themes of light, immersion and contemporary social commentary with thought provoking new perspectives,” Mr Hart said. 

“This program will support both the practices of Central Coast based artists through solo exhibitions of recent work and bring exhibitions by significant artists such as Jessica Loughlin, William Kentridge and the proppaNOW collective to the Central Coast.”
