14/01/2025An exciting line up of free activities is on offer at Youth Day Out – Summer Session! Coasties aged 6-17 are invited to join the fun on Wednesday 22 January 2025 from 10am-2pm at Banjo's Skatepark in Terrigal.
Presented by Central Coast Council, this free event offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to enjoy the summer school holidays with a variety of engaging activities.
Central Coast Council Acting Director Community and Recreation Services, Phil Cantillon said the event aligns with Council's commitment to local youth development.
“Council is committed to fostering a thriving and vibrant youth community and this event, delivered by our youth services team, supports this commitment,” Mr Cantillon said.
“Youth Day Out perfectly aligns with our Youth Strategy by providing a fun and inclusive environment for young people to connect, develop their skills and explore their interests.”
The event will feature a diverse range of free activities, including:
- Street art workshops
- Live hip hop music with an open mic
- Creative activities like podcasting, lawn games and skateboard deck designs
- Free BBQ lunch (from 11am)
- Beginner skateboard and scooter workshops (bookings required)
- Youth Support Service
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said Youth Day Out is a fantastic opportunity for young people to connect with their community and have fun.

“Whether you're looking to learn new skills, catch up with friends or simply enjoy the summer vibes in the fresh air, Youth Day Out is the place to be. Bring your crew and make the most of this awesome community event!”
Beginner skateboard and scooter workshops information
Youth Day Out – Summer Session features free beginner skateboard and scooter lessons led by experienced instructors. Participants can learn to stand, push, stop and carve on a skateboard or learn the correct stance on a scooter, plus how to carve, bunny hop and roll.
These lessons cater to beginners aged 6-17 and are open to all skaters and riders with little to no experience on a skateboard, scooter or at a skatepark. If participants don’t have their own gear, they can borrow a helmet, skateboard or scooter for the sessions. All sessions are free, but spots are limited so bookings are essential.
Workshop session times
- Session 1: 10-11am (all)
- Session 2: 11am-12pm (girls only)
- Session 3: 12-1pm (all)
- Session 4: 1-2pm (all)
Parental or carer supervision is required for skateboard and scooter workshops for primary school-aged participants and is recommended for other activities on the day. Please note that only the skateboard and scooter workshops require bookings to reserve a spot – all other activities are drop-in.
