21/07/2020Central Coast Council has started emergency remediation works at Wamberal Beach today.
The works include placing rock filled bags on the beach by crane from the road. The works are being undertaken from the road, not from the beach, which remains inaccessible to the community.
Council has responded quickly to the expert coastal engineer advice and required direction from the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Controller, for these works to help stabilise the base of the escarpment.
Wamberal Surf Club carpark has been set up as a staging area for the works and traffic management will be in place. Residents and visitors are advised to take extra care if travelling through the area and obey all signage while the works are underway.
Affected residents have been contacted by the Emergency Operation Centre and advised of the works, Council’s resolution in relation to works on private property and further support available.
Council and the EOC are monitoring weather conditions and beach conditions, and will continue to work together with residents and the State Government to manage coastal erosion at Wamberal Beach.
