02/04/2023The draft Central Coast Council Operational Plan 2023-24 continues a focus on delivering services for our community while supporting Council’s ongoing financial sustainability.
Together with the draft Fees and Charges for 2023-24, the Operational Plan will be on public exhibition until Monday 1 May at yourvoiceourcoast.com
Administrator Rik Hart encouraged the community to have their say.
“The financial performance of the organisation has turned around and Council’s steadfast financial management has increased our financial stability,” Mr Hart said.
“This draft Operational Plan shows a continued focus on delivery of services to the Central Coast community through prudent expenditure and incorporates the necessary adjustments to accommodate the increased depreciation trend and rising costs due to inflation.
“This is not a Central Coast Council problem but a challenge facing all councils in the current economic climate, and notably the limitations placed on councils to increase revenue.
“The draft Operational Plan shows our community that we are making sure our roads, open spaces, water and sewer assets and leisure and waste facilities are repaired and renewed.
“At the 28 March 2023 Ordinary Council Meeting, I amended the resolution to include a table identifying percentage changes in proposed Fees and Charges for 2023-24, compared to the same fee in 2022-23.
“This means the community will be able to easily see which fees and charges are proposed to change in the coming financial year, while providing greater transparency with the community,” Mr Hart said.
Highlights include:
- Road and drainage upgrades and renewals to improve conditions and ensure safety
- Strengthening water supply and sewer treatment through network improvements
- Leisure centre, sportsground upgrades and promoting healthy living through the various programs and events delivered at these facilities
- Playground upgrades and renewals
- Protection of waterways, with gross pollutant trap upgrades and coastal erosion remediation works, and natural bushland, reserve and asset protection renewals
- Community programs and events to build resilience and connections, and building works and upgrades on galleries, theatres, and other facilities
- Town centre and tourism facility upgrades, as well as implementation of the Destination Management Plan
- Waste and resource recovery facility upgrades and continuing to explore waste reduction solutions through the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) project
