16/02/2017Laycock Street Community Theatre is encouraging audiences to hold their noses, when David Walliams’ award-winning book Mr Stink comes to life this February as part of a national tour, following its 2016 Sydney Opera House premiere.
Connected Communities Group Leader, Ms Julie Vaughan, said Laycock is looking forward to welcoming this charming and original Australian adaptation to its stage.
“It promises to be a real crowd pleaser for children aged 6 to 12, and we’re sure that adults in the audience are going to have equally as much fun with this heart-warming and comical production,” Ms Vaughan said.
Well known British comedian and TV presenter David Walliams is also the fastest growing children's author in the UK. With a literary style often compared to that of Roald Dahl, his books have sold more than 8 million copies worldwide and been translated into 46 languages.
Mr Stink will be familiar to children, teachers and parents alike. The popular book won the 2010 Children's Award in the People's Book Prize and has been translated into a 60-minute BBC film, as well as this recent Australian stage adaptation.
Ms Vaughan added that the show was presented by the highly regarded CDP Kids Productions.
“This play has great pedigree and is presented by the production team behind the popular productions of The 13- 26- and 52-Storey Treehouses which have enjoyed sell out performances at Laycock in previous years,” added Ms Vaughan
“We are committed to programming national productions for the Central Coast so that local audiences and schools don’t have to spend the time and expense of travelling to Sydney to see quality shows.
“It’s wonderful that we can provide that unique experience and thrill of live performances right here on our doorstep.”
With critics and audiences raving about Mr Stink, Central Coast audiences are encouraged not to miss out on the boisterous fun and secure tickets quickly for this touching, hilarious, and very smelly tale.
Mr Stink will be showing at Laycock Street Community Theatre at the following times:
Thursday 23 February 2017: 10am, 12pm and 6pm
Friday 24 February 2017: 10am
Mr Stink is recommended for children aged 6 – 12 years, the show’s duration is 60 minutes (no interval) and it features a small amount of theatrical haze.
