23/02/2022Council is inviting experienced business owners and hospitality experts to create an exciting new hospitality and entertainment experience located on the foreshore of the iconic Terrigal Haven.
The venue, formerly the Terrigal Sailing Club and now currently occupied by a restaurant and café, is currently up for tender which creates an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to create an outstanding business in a picturesque location for both locals and tourists to enjoy.
Council Director Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer, Natalia Cowley encourages experienced business owners and hospitality experts to put forward their interest in delivering a new venture that takes advantage of the site’s potential and meets community expectations.
“Terrigal is a popular tourist destination, which was further bolstered by the new $6million boardwalk attraction that provides a pedestrian link directly from Terrigal promenade to this waterfront property at The Haven,” Ms Cowley said.
“The area has a high level of foot traffic from both tourists and the local community across the year and spectacular views which extend to Wamberal beach on a clear day.
“The successful applicant will take over the whole venue which currently consists of a café, kiosk and restaurant spaces and should be in a position to inject substantial capital investment to create an exceptional hospitality experience.
“Council will support the commitment and vision of the successful applicant by providing a 20-year lease and competitive annual market rent, or otherwise agreed upon within the second stage of the tender.”
The tender has been set up into two stages, with the objective to firstly identify suitable businesses and hospitality experts with relevant experience and capacity to deliver through substantial capital and create an iconic venue.
Council Administrator, Rik Hart said an opportunity to create a landmark business at this sought-after location does not come around often and interested parties should submit their interest in securing this unique space now.
“The Coast has grown as a popular tourism destination and successful applicants should deliver an exciting venue that further adds to the exceptional attractions already on offer across the region,” Mr Hart said.
“Terrigal Haven is one of the Coast’s most beautiful locations which sits alongside crystal waters, a popular foreshore reserve and BBQ facilities, boating and fishing facilities, dog park, lookouts, a sportsground and reserve pathways. This new attraction should further enhance these wonderful outdoor spaces.”
Once a shortlist has been prepared from the EOI, Council will seek to evaluate the commercial terms in Stage 2 of this tender.
Submissions remain open until Tuesday 12 April 2022.
