Central Coast Council has welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement of $250,000 from the Public Reserves Management Fund Program to assist with works at Terrigal Rock Pool.

Council Group Leader, Assets, Infrastructure and Business, Mr Mike Dowling said the works will deliver a secure, long lasting rock pool for the community.

“Council has long recognised the need for investment in Terrigal Rock Pool and we are very pleased that we can now undertake this renovation as a result of NSW State Government funding,” he said.

“Terrigal Rock Pool is a very popular area for locals and tourists alike. Young families enjoy the protection from the ocean afforded by the rock pool that provides a safe haven for water activities.

“It also provides a great sheltered swimming area, away from the disturbance of waves and rips for swimmers of all experience and levels.”

Renovation of the Rock Pool area will involve removal of existing rock walls, cutting of sandstone bedrock to allow for new footings, construction of new bored concrete piers and the construction of concrete walls including stainless steel reinforcement and overflow weir.

Council has compiled a structural design specification report for the proposed works as well as survey and geotechnical reports.

The works are expected to commence following the summer swim season in 2018.
