23/11/2016Central Coast Council was up against more than 150 Councils across Australia in this year’s Garage Sale Trail and has taken out the national Outstanding Achievement Award.
Council would like to thank the Central Coast community for their support contributing to this year’s amazing success. Without this community support the award would not have been possible.
Central Coast Council’s Administrator, Mr Ian Reynolds said, Council is proud to have participated in such a great initiative that encourages the community to recycle their unwanted goods instead of sending them to land fill.
“This is a great achievement for the Coast who took out second place overall for the most registered sales,” Mr Reynolds said.
“The Central Coast was up against some extremely large cities and regions and the community support was just outstanding.
“This year the Coast community contributed to over 2 million items listed for reuse at a value of approximately $13.9 million.
“It is clear how important the Coast’s environment is to the locals living on the Central Coast and Council will continue to embrace innovative ways to sustain our region.
“We look forward to what Council and the community can do together next year towards making the Central Coast the most sustainable region in Australia.”
