The highly anticipated Magenta Shared Pathway officially opened today, with Council Mayor Lawrie McKinna, together with fellow Councillors, cutting the ribbon to mark the occasion. This project was funded by Central Coast Council through developer contributions and provides a safe and scenic route between North Entrance towards Toukley for cyclists and pedestrians to enjoy.

Council Director Infrastructure Services, Boris Bolgoff said the opening of this final stage of the 3.7km Magenta Shared Pathway project is a significant milestone for the Central Coast.

“This pathway provides a vital link for active transport, connecting the popular town centres of The Entrance and Toukley,” Mr Bolgoff said.

“It offers a safe and scenic route for cyclists and pedestrians of all ages and abilities, with stunning views of Wyrrabalong National Park and glimpses of Tuggerah Lake.  

It also completes a key missing link in the NSW Coastline Cycleway route which aims to provide a continuous cycling and walking route along the entire NSW coastline from Queensland to Victoria.

“The pathway features a mix of elevated and on-ground sections taking into account environmental considerations and accessibility.

“There are also viewing platforms, seating and a bicycle repair station located along the route that provide opportunities for users to pause and appreciate the natural beauty of the area and carry out any emergency repairs.  

“Whilst landscaping and planting has been undertaken, further planting will be undertaken in autumn 2025 during a favourable season for planting success.  

“This project aligns with Council’s commitment to creating a vibrant and sustainable community by encouraging active transport and promoting a healthy lifestyle."

Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said he was honoured to cut the ribbon to signify the official opening of the pathway.

“The Magenta Shared Pathway is a significant investment by Council and a testament to Council’s dedication to enhancing our community’s quality of life,” Mayor McKinna said.

“Designed with accessibility in mind, this pathway will benefit residents and attract visitors to our region.

“It enables pedestrians and cyclists of all abilities to move safely and efficiently throughout the Coast, aligning with Council’s Bike Plan and Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan.

“I encourage everyone to come out and experience this wonderful new pathway. Whether you're a recreational cyclist, a runner or casual walker, it is available for all.”

Council encourages all users to use designated access points (The Entrance, North Entrance, Toukley or designated car parks along the pathway).
