Council acts to remove old seawall from Terrigal Beach

01/08/2018Central Coast Council has excavated and removed timber material that has been largely buried underneath the sand on Terrigal Beach for almost 80 years.
Timber piling from an old seawall constructed and subsequently destroyed by a storm in the 1930s was exposed earlier this month by the process of natural sand erosion caused by tidal activity.
A trial dig to determine the feasibility of removing the material was undertaken by Council last week and the exposed timber was successfully removed from the beach.
Concrete remnants that had also been exposed in the wash zone have also been relocated for the safety of visitors to the beach.
