14/04/2018Trained Central Coast Council staff have removed a small amount of asbestos from Wamberal Beach and opened the beach to the public this morning.
Late on Friday, 13 April 2018, Council was informed that material potentially containing asbestos was located on parts of Wamberal Beach and up to the lagoon. Council staff inspected the beach early this morning and removed a small amount of asbestos.
Recent weather events have uncovered a small amount of asbestos which has been safely removed.
Council will reactivate weekly inspections of the beach and continue to manage this historical issue constructively with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
The beach is open to the public and Lifeguards are patrolling the flagged area of the beach.
