Central Coast Council has an exciting opportunity for our community to shape the design of Karagi Point Reserve, which is due for renewal in 2025-2026.

The Karagi Point Reserve in Hutton Rd, The Entrance North, includes a car park, foreshore and playspace, which is nearing its end-of-life. We want local families, caregivers and community groups to participate in the consultation survey so the final design will reflect the area’s needs.

Central Coast Council Director of Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith explained the renewal forms part of Council’s Playspace Strategy and Renewal program and the upgrade will provide a functional, accessible, and safe asset for the community to enjoy.

“We want your input to help us select one of three options to upgrade this area, which is currently used as a playspace. We can replace the existing play equipment, create a nature-inspired playground – with natural elements and textures offering opportunities for structured and unstructured play and learning, or we can develop a passive open space turfed area – for everyone to enjoy picnics or kick a ball around,” Ms Smith said.

The three options available to choose from are:

  • Renewal of the local playspace with traditional play equipment, such as swings, slides, etc
  • Nature playspace including timber play elements
  • Green, passive open space with park furniture – for resting, recharging and free play

It’s important to note that there are five playspaces within proximity to Karagi Point Reserve, which may determine the option most beneficial for the community.

  • Edith & Walter Dennis Park - 421m away
  • Terilbah Reserve - 600m away
  • The Entrance town centre - 1300m away
  • Picnic Point Park - 1500m away
  • Simpson St Park - 1600m away

Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said that Council is committed to proactively engaging with the community and key stakeholders to better inform Council’s decision-making process.

“By considering community and stakeholder feedback, we can align the proposed design with the needs and wants of families and individuals to achieve best outcomes, creating a space that will enrich our neighbourhood for many years to come,” Mayor McKinna said.

“Interested members of the community are encouraged to visit the Your Voice Our Coast website to participate in the consultation survey and share their views about Kanagi Point Reserve and how it can be best utilised.”

Check out yourvoiceourcoast.com and search ‘Karagi’ to participate in the survey, share your ideas and select the design option you feel would most benefit the community by 5pm, Monday 9 December.
