Central Coast Council is pleased to report that new testing results taken from Terrigal Reservoir system, have confirmed that there is no E. coli bacteria present in the water supply.

As a result, Council in consultation with NSW Health, have lifted the Boil Water Alert.

On Tuesday 4 February 2025 at 6.28pm Council issued a precautionary Boil Water Alert to users of water supply in Terrigal, North Avoca, Avoca Beach, Copacabana, MacMasters Beach, Picketts Valley, Erina, Erina Heights and Kincumber.

A recent water sample taken by Council staff had detected a possible presence of E. coli bacteria. Since community safety is always a priority, Council, in consultation with NSW Health, issued a  precautionary Boil Water Alert to the affected areas.

Central Coast Council CEO said that he was relieved and pleased to be able to now advise that an independent NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) accredited laboratory, has confirmed no presence of E.coli.

“Council took the precautionary approach of issuing the Boil Water Alert while we were waiting for the definitive test results and completing a thorough investigation of the water supply system.

“We want to thank the community for their co-operation and reassure them that Council’s continual testing and management of our water supply systems on the Central Coast remains paramount,” Mr Farmer said.

“This incident shows that the on-going testing process works – as it flags any testing results inconsistent with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, which Council can then respond to immediately.”
