Celebrating the creative community on the Coast

Central Coast Council is partnering with The Art House to put on a showcase of work by some of the region’s most talented artists and launch a new creative program.

For one night only, Thursday 26 April, The Art House will feature six films and a live performance created by professional artists on the Central Coast – including the premiere of the film The Central Coast: the land and its people.

Council Unit Manager of Community Partnerships, Glenn Cannard, said this was a great opportunity for the community to see talented local artists shine.

“The seven pieces of work being shown were created as part of the Art Central creative industry support program,” Mr Cannard said.

“From 2011 to 2017, Council worked with Create NSW and Regional Development Australia Central Coast to support 15 local professional artists to produce a range of works under the broad theme of regional identity and what they created is something definitely worth seeing.

“As well as showcasing the previous professional works on the night, Council will also host an open panel with leaders in the creative industry.”

The panel will have key strategic industry operators from The Art House, NAISDA, Central Coast Conservatorium, Laycock Street Community Theatre, Gosford Regional Art Gallery and Central Coast Council's community grants and cultural programs.

“This night is a great chance to discuss local projects in general and also hear about our new program, Creative Art Central – a residency partnership program open to working artists and producers across the region,” Mr Cannard added.

“We will be calling on professional artists to submit proposals to partner with Council via a residency program that will be divided into three categories – Creative Industries, Creative Communities and Creative and Wellbeing.

“We are proud to be working with the leaders in the creative industry to create these opportunities for professional artists on the Central Coast.”

The Creative Art Central event will be held on Thursday 26 April at The Art House, Wyong from 5.30pm and includes nibbles and drinks.

While the event is FREE, guests must have a ticket for the evening. Reserve a seat before Monday 23 April by emailing: rsvp@thearthousewyong.com.au
