Central Coast community members with unique and innovative ideas for events and projects are encouraged to apply for funding under Council’s Community Grants and Sponsorship Program.

The first round for 2019-20 is open to individuals, community groups and businesses for funding to support events, programs and initiatives that make a difference to the local community and region.

Mayor Jane Smith said the Community Grants and Sponsorship Program offers fantastic opportunities to not only improve the lifestyle of residents but to promote the region as a great place to visit.

“These grants are being given to organisations and volunteers who provide services to many different groups across our population,” Mayor Smith said.

“Council’s funding creates strong connections within the community.

“I am pleased to see so many diverse organisations in previous years accessing grant funding to run events and programs or to improve or preserve equipment and buildings.”

Council has allocated $1.78 million in 2019-20 for funding which is available across community grants and sponsorship rounds.

Applications open Thursday 1 August and close Friday 30 August 2019, for the following categories:

• Community Events and Place Activation Grants
• Community Development Grants
• Community Infrastructure Grants
• Heritage Grants
• Social and Creative Enterprise Grants
• Awarding Sponsorship

Free information sessions are also being held for interested community members to find out more about the funding available, how to apply and to get a better understanding of the categories.
