Administrator’s Message - R U OK?

The current climate we live in is proving extremely challenging more than ever for many already struggling, particularly as our community head into double digits of weeks in lockdown. However, it’s often the people around us that can best help us navigate through these challenges and difficult times.

This month we acknowledge and focus on the importance of Mental Health, and R U OK Day on Thursday 9 September reminds us of how important connecting with those around you is, and to start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling.

Asking for help isn’t always easy, you don’t need to be an expert to reach out, just a good friend and a great listener. Starting a conversation could be as simple as:

  • Asking R U OK?
  • Listening
  • Encouraging action
  • Checking in

The impact of one conversation could make all the difference in someone’s life, even simply asking a stranger R U OK can go a long way.

Whilst we’re limited in how far we can travel, there are many ways you can connect virtually, and as the weather warms up, reach out to a neighbour or friend for a walk and talk.

I ask, R U OK?
