Over the last 24 hours the Central Coast has received up to 100mm of rainfall in certain areas resulting in localised flash flooding. Most impacted yesterday was the intersection of Central Coast Highway and Racecourse Road, West Gosford.

Regardless of intersection improvements carried out in 2017 by Transport for NSW, flooding at this intersection continues to occur. Central Coast Highway is a state-owned road. Council will recommence discussions with TfNSW on how we can avoid this occurring in heavy rainfall periods.

A minor flood warning is in place for Tuggerah Lake. The Entrance Channel remains open with Council staff monitoring closely.

Overnight, part of Yarramalong Road was closed due to flooding, however that has now receded. Bumble Hill Road remains under traffic control whilst works are underway to address a minor landslip. Whilst rain is still falling and pockets of minor floods experienced, I encourage you all to be careful on the roads and avoid driving through flood waters.    

The quality of water at our lagoons, waterways, rivers, lakes and beaches are impacted by heavy rainfall. People should not swim or go in the water at our beaches for at least 24 hours after rainfall, and wait at least three days for lagoons, waterways, rivers and lakes.
