03/11/2016110 new parking spaces are being created close to the heart of Terrigal, with work commencing on the $2.7 million upgrade to the Wilson Road parking station. The upgrade involves construction of an additional level to the existing three-storey parking station, increasing its overall capacity to 330 spaces.
Council Administrator Ian Reynolds said the carpark was being upgraded to cater for the area’s continued growth and works were being conducted with the community in mind.
“The Wilson Road parking station is being expanded to cater for Terrigal’s ongoing growth, both residential and commercial, and its increasing popularity as a premier tourist destination, particularly during the summer season,” Mr Reynolds said.
“Works have been scheduled to minimise any disruption to community members and visitors to our region, with no works being conducted over the peak summer period to accommodate increased visitation to the area.
“Our intent is to keep the parking station functioning to its maximum potential during peak times, so as to best cater for the community’s needs and cause minimal disruption to users.
“We thank all carpark users for their cooperation whilst this essential infrastructure upgrade is completed.”
The first stage of work is scheduled for completion by the end of November, with minimal impact on carpark users.
The second stage of works is due to commence in March 2017, with the full upgrade scheduled for completion by August 2017.
