19/02/2025Maintaining our local roads is a topic of importance for many residents. With more than 2,000km of roads and over 1,000km of drainage on the Central Coast, it can be challenging to manage the ongoing maintenance of these essential community assets.
By road renewal, we mean work that includes things like sealing cracks and resurfacing roads to bring them back to their original condition or prolong their life. New roads, and new work to existing roads, are not included in our road renewal program, and must be funded separately.
Council has a sophisticated Pavement Management System that uses a range of technical criteria to assess the condition of local roads and prioritise them for renewal.
Councillors recently participated in a workshop to review our road renewal program and determine if any adjustments needed to be made according to community priorities. Following our input, the program will be finalised, and we can launch our 10-year road renewal program and interactive map.
I’m looking forward to sharing the final road renewal program with you.
If you’d like to see current roadworks planned or underway in your area, you can find them by checking the ‘Roads and Carparks’ box on Council’s Capital Works Program Interactive Map on Council’s website.
