Thank you to everyone who has worked to help keep our community safe, supported and informed during the recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

For residents impacted, here’s a summary of advice and information for clean up and recovery.

NEED SUPPORT?

HEALTH AND SAFETY DURING CLEAN UP

  • Avoid unnecessary risks by wearing suitable protective clothing, and practice basic hygiene. Read more

WASTE COLLECTION

  • Kerbside bin collections continue. Book a bulk kerbside collection at 1coast.com.au or drop off waste at a Council waste management facility (fees apply). For sandbag disposal, split the bags to empty the sand into your garden, and put empty bags in the red lid garbage bin.

WRACK (SEAGRASS) WASHED UP ON FORESHORES

  • Please be careful around our waterways and follow signage as ground are still wet, with possible debris and hazardous materials in the wrack. Please report anything requiring attention to Council. We continue to collect the wrack and debris washed up on public foreshore areas when it is safe to do so, and as each of the site conditions allow.

WRACK (SEAGRASS) ON PRIVATE PROPERTIES

  • For insurance reasons, Council is unable to remove wrack that is above the waterline on private properties. Residents are encouraged to utilise it as mulch, otherwise it can be placed in your green bin, or book a green waste kerbside pick-up through www.1Coast.com.au

STORMWATER AND DEBRIS IN WATERWAYS

  • Avoid swimming and recreational activities within our waterways for a few days after significant rainfall, due to increased risk of pollution from storm water and debris, which can cause illness or injury.

ROADS

  • Crews continue to attend to potholes across the region, with repairs prioritised by level of safety risk and at high-speed and higher traffic roads first. Please report potholes via our online Customer Service Centre, https://centralcoastcouncil.custhelp.com/app or call on 4306 7900.
