As the weather warms up, we are proud to be delivering an engaging program of activities and events throughout the spring school holidays, offering you plenty of choices to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and keep young minds entertained.

What’s on for our Youth 

Council’s Youth Services and local youth providers have plenty of exciting opportunities, events, and workshops to help young people across the Central Coast explore their passions, build skills, and be inspired while connecting and socialising with friends this school holidays.

From entering or supporting a mate in the Central Coast Skate and Scooter Competition, enjoying the good vibes with friends at a free movie night (don’t forget to BYO beanbag!), to interactive workshops and upskilling opportunities for those with an interest in videography or construction, there will be something for minds of all ages and abilities.

What’s on for the whole family 

There will be plenty of opportunities for the whole family to get involved with a wide range of events and fun-filled outdoor initiatives that provide memorable family experiences these school holidays. 

Join your little ones and make the most of the outdoors by discovering the plethora of sports, active recreation, and physical activity options in their own community, as part of Council’s newest initiative Get Active - San Remo & Blue Haven, proudly delivered in partnership with NSW Office of Sport and Central Coast Health District’s Health Promotion Service. No matter your age, we encourage you to try something new for free or at an affordable cost. Whether it be discovering your family’s abilities with swimming, basketball, yoga or another recreational sport, or learning about your bodies with gym and fitness activities – there will be plenty on offer and many friends to make in every community.

For those families that enjoy building on their creative abilities, there will be a chance to bring more colour into your day with colouring-in activities or creating a cyanotype in the sunshine with T LO Art Pop Up, as part of Council’s fun-filled Creative Spaces programming across the Coast’s Town Centres. Dance-lovers can break a sweat with a special music and movement classes with the TipToe Giants Play Pop Up featuring vocals, green screen recording experiences and an insight into the benefits of music therapy!

What's on across our Libraries

At Council’s Libraries, kids can get involved in a range of face-to-face and online activities designed to activate young minds. 

High school-aged kids will have the opportunity to work together and put their problem-solving skills to the test by unravelling a compelling story behind an Escape Room-style detective challenge. Suitable for those aged 12-17 years, there will be clues to connect, friends to make, and personal strengths to be discovered. 

Primary-aged kids with a creative interest can join Australian Children’s Laureate Gabriella Wang to discover the inspiration and creative process behind her latest book and learn how to draw a mythical creature!  

Have the whole family visit Kincumber Library to indulge in a fun-filled list of glow activities with ‘The Midnight Zone’. Over three days, kids can ignite their senses and creativity with glow-themed sensory activities, stories and craft, and engineering challenges.

What's on across our Theatres

It’s fun for the whole family at Laycock Street Community Theatre, with some fantastic kid-friendly shows running these school holidays. 

Join a prank-pulling pair of polished professors for a thrilling voyage through the alphabet - where great big chewy sesquipedalian words inspire mind-blowing scientific surprises. Have your kids bring along their mates to enjoy The Alphabet of Awesome Science; an interactive performance that is equal parts explosive, messy, spectacular, hilarious, fascinating, and gross!
For those that prefer to be taken on an epic journey through storytelling, Urza and The Song in the Dark is a brand-new story for young people set in an underground wonderland of caves, lakes, fantastical creatures, and myths waiting to be discovered. Young people enjoy amazing puppetry, live songs, and stunningly layered shadow visuals that take them on a mystical journey of friendship, adventure, and saving the world!
