04/08/2023Four vehicle and pedestrian access points at Soldiers and Jenny Dixon Beaches that were damaged by severe storms in 2021 will be replaced or repaired with $2.44 million in funding provided by the Australian and NSW Governments as part of the Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program.
Royal Haskoning DHV are currently in the design stage of three of the four projects;
- Soldiers Beach vehicle access ramp
- Soldiers Beach northern stairs
- Jenny Dixon stairs
The fourth project is the Soldiers Beach stair access in front of the Surf Life Saving Club and as of Monday 7 August stair extension works will begin.
The stair extension works are expected to take four weeks, weather permitting, and the stairs will be closed to the public during this time.
The immediate grassed area near the stairs and Surf Life Saving will be impacted to allow for the works. Soldiers Beach will be able to be accessed via the entry points north and south of the stairs.
As works continue to progress:
- Please stay away from the impacted area
- Please keep personal safety front-of-mind and remain behind any barriers Council crews have in place.
